Floor Demolition in Conway, Arkansas

Conway is about 37 miles from the yard in Higden. That is close enough that walking your floor is a normal Tuesday, not a trip anyone has to plan around. Tile, VCT, carpet, coatings — off the slab, in the truck, gone.

What comes off the slab

Conway has a bit of everything, and so does the tear-out

A town of seventy thousand does not have one kind of floor. It has strip retail with glue-down vinyl, clinic suites with sheet goods coved up the wall, offices carpeted in tile squares, restaurant kitchens under quarry tile, and older buildings hiding a mud bed. We price what is actually down there, not what the drawings say.

Cracked and damaged ceramic tile flooring waiting to be torn out

Hard surface, and whatever is stuck under it

Ceramic and porcelain tile over thinset comes up with a ride-on scraper where there is room to run one, and by hand where there is not. Stone and quarry tile in a kitchen usually sit on a mud bed, and a mud bed is a different job with a different number — we say so at the walkthrough rather than after.

Terrazzo and epoxy or urethane coatings come off with a grinder or a shot blaster depending on how thick the build-up is and what the new floor needs underneath it. Both run to vacuum.

Soft goods, and the glue that never wanted to leave

Carpet, pad and tack strip is the fast part. Carpet tile in an office is faster still until you hit the adhesive, and then it is a scrape. VCT over cutback mastic is the one that eats schedules: the tile lifts in minutes and the black glue takes the rest of the day.

Glue-down hardwood and nail-down over sleepers both come out to the substrate. Sheet vinyl in a clinic corridor usually brings the cove base and a layer of leveler with it. Gypcrete, sound mat and underlayment in a multi-tenant building get their own line on the quote, because they always cost more than anybody expects.

What the distance actually changes

Conway is inside the ring we work every week, so the drive never becomes part of the argument.

On a job a hundred miles out, the mileage forces decisions: the walkthrough has to be a deliberate half-day, the work has to be scoped to run as one block, and small jobs stop making sense for anybody. None of that applies here. At about 37 miles up I-40, a Conway walkthrough gets slotted into a week that was already running, and the job itself gets scheduled on its own merits instead of around a drive.

The practical effect is what we will take on. A single suite of clinic flooring, one restaurant strip-out, a homeowner who pulled up a corner of the kitchen tile and found a mud bed underneath — all normal work in Conway. Further out those jobs get folded into something bigger or they do not happen. Here they stand on their own.

It also means a second trip is cheap. If your GC moves the date, or the ceiling grid is not down yet when we get there, coming back is an inconvenience rather than a line item.

Who calls

The four calls we get out of Conway

A county seat this size carries a broader mix than anywhere else on this side of the state — which is why the Conway phone calls do not all sound alike.

01

General contractors

The floor is on the critical path and everything after it is waiting. You need the old surface gone, the substrate clean and a date that does not move. We give you one number and one crew, and we tell you at the walkthrough if there is anything under there that will cost you days.

02

Property and facility managers

The building is trading and the tenants are not leaving. Containment plastic goes up and the air returns get covered before anything comes down. Night and weekend work when the space cannot lose a business day. Occupied buildings →

03

Flooring dealers and installers

You sold the new floor. You do not want the tear-out, and you especially do not want the mastic. Hand us the demo and the slab prep and turn up to a swept substrate you can actually moisture test.

04

Homeowners mid-remodel

Never the lead, but real, and Conway is close enough that it works. Usually the same story: the tile came up easy and the thinset did not. Get a Free Quote

How it runs

Four steps from your call to a clean slab

This is the short version for a Conway job. The full sequence, with the containment detail and the load-out, is on the floor demolition page.

1

You call, Ricky answers

No call centre and no answering service. Tell him the square footage, the material and the building. He will tell you on the phone if it is not his lane.

2

Walkthrough in two days

He stands on the floor, checks what is under the surface, and looks at how the debris gets out of the building. You get a written number the same day.

3

Seal it, then break it

Containment plastic seals the work zone and the air returns are covered before anything comes down. Grinding and shot blasting run to vacuum.

4

Haul off and sweep

Debris leaves the site, the slab gets swept and we walk it with you. One contract, one crew, one punch list.

The six-step version, including how we handle a substrate that turns out to be worse than the drawings said, is on the hub page.

Straight answers

Three things people ask before they call

Q1

Is Conway far enough out that a small job is not worth your time?

No. Conway sits about 37 miles from the yard in Higden, which puts it on home ground. A walkthrough here gets fitted into a normal week rather than planned around.

That is why a single clinic suite or one restaurant floor is a normal job in Conway, not an exception. On the far end of the footprint that same job would have to be folded into a bigger block of work to make the mobilisation worth anyone's money. Not here.

Q2

How fast can you get out to look at a floor in Conway?

Within two business days of the call. Ricky answers the phone himself and does the walkthrough himself, so there is no handoff between the person who quotes it and the person who runs it.

You get a written number the same day he walks it. That number does not move mid-job unless you change the scope in writing.

Q3

Who pays for asbestos testing on an older Conway building?

The customer arranges and pays for the test. It is not in our number and we do not mark it up.

On an older floor — the kind where nine-inch tile is sitting in black cutback mastic — get the test done before you get a schedule from anybody, ours included. It is the one thing that can turn a two-day tear-out into something else entirely.

Also

Interior demolition

Non-structural walls, ceiling grid and tile, millwork and casework, back-to-shell strip-out. If the Conway job is a full buildout rather than a floor swap, one crew does the lot and you sign one contract.
